We are so thrilled that Mile Square Theatre is up and running!

Mile Square Theatre, Hudson County's largest arts organization, welcomed business and government leaders to its new facility in Hoboken on Monday, April 11, for a tour of its new theatre space.

Founder and Artistic Director Chris O'Connor told the enthusiastic group of supporters, "I had a crazy idea 14 years ago to create a non-profit arts organization, and over time others have joined in that dream and have put their shoulders behind it. And here we are today celebrating a bricks and mortar realization of that vision. I cannot be more proud of the work we have all done together."

Hoboken Mayor Dawn Zimmer applauded MST's accomplishment and said the non-profit theatre company "is a great addition to the city." Hudson County Freeholder Anthony Romano spoke of continuing partnerships with the county and the arts organization. Hoboken Chamber of Commerce President Richard Mackiewicz, Jr. Esq addressed the group and lauded O'Connor and the MST Board of Trustees for their hard work in creating a business that will attract dollars into the local economy. He then invited either Artistic Director O'Connor or MST Board President Zabrina Stoffel to join the Chamber Board, to which O'Connor quipped, "She officially accepts!"

The Artistic Director continued, "The presence of Mile Square Theatre at this location creates a unique neighborhood that is a destination for dining and entertainment. Great restaurants, a cinema, and now Mile Square Theatre, a quality professional theatre that rivals what you’d see across the river. The economic impact will be powerful. Art means business."

The theatre company is currently running a drama school and dance academy and has a season of five plays for 2016. Its current production,Goodnight Moon, runs until April 24.
