The fireworks at Jersey City will be the largest in Northern Jersey with an expected turnout of more than 50,000 spectators. Come early to get ahead of the crowds and spend the day visiting two of the parks major attractions, the Interpretive Center and the state-of-the-art Liberty Science Center. Don't forget to bring your chairs and blankets and settle in early

Statue of Liberty 5K: Begins 5:30am

The Statue of Liberty 5K takes place on Liberty Island, home of the Statue of Liberty and is organized by Special Olympics New Jersey. Check-in for this event will take place at Liberty State Park the morning of July 4th., and a private ferry will transport participants to Liberty Island. Participants can run in the 5K or opt to walk in the 3K walk component. If you are interested in sponsoring a participant, you may do so by visiting the Statue of Liberty 5K website: http://www.sonj.org/events/liberty-5k/

Hermione-Lafayette Boat Parade: 10am-1pm

Guests of the Freedom & Fireworks Festival will get to see the Hermione-Lafayette Parade procession from Liberty State Park at approximately noon. For information, history, and boat parade route, visit: http://parade.hermione2015.com
