Hoboken: Where to Watch

Hoboken was built for this. Washington Street becomes a different place on a big sports night — and the concentration of bars within a 10-minute walk of the PATH means you have real options at every price point and atmosphere. For everything happening in the neighborhood this summer, see our Things to Do in Hoboken guide.

Madd Hatter Hoboken

221 Washington St, Hoboken, NJ 07030  |  (201) 850-1281  |  hobokenmaddhatter.com

40-plus HD screens, a sound system that does not mess around, and capacity for up to 350 people. The Madd Hatter is the most serious sports bar setup in Hoboken. For the USA group stage games and knockout rounds, they are running ticketed watch parties at around $30 per person. That buys you a reserved spot in the building that will have the loudest crowd on Washington Street.

Book ahead for Paraguay vs USA and anything past the Round of 16. Walk-ins are realistic for the 3pm Australia match. The Final is a sell-out.

Best for: Groups who want the full stadium-adjacent experience without leaving Hoboken.

Cover: ~$30 for watch party events; free on lighter match days.

Black Bear Hoboken Bar & Grill

205 Washington St, Hoboken, NJ 07030  |  (201) 656-5511  |  blackbearhoboken.com

TVs in every direction, solid pub food, and a crowd that has been watching international football here for 25 years. Black Bear opened at 5am for the 2023 Women's World Cup. Expect the same energy for every USA match this summer. No cover on regular match days and the staff knows how to run a busy house without making you feel rushed.

Open daily from noon (Friday–Saturday until 3am). Good for early afternoon matches when you want a beer and a seat without the $30 cover.

Best for: Classic sports bar watch, CONCACAF matchups, any game without the ticketed-event pressure.

Cover: None for standard matches.

The New 8th Street Tavern

800 Washington St, Hoboken, NJ 07030  |  (201) 653-8554  |  new8thstreet.com

Reopened in 2022 with a full screen wall for sports and the neighborhood energy of a proper dive. Known locally as the home bar for NJ Arsenal supporters, which means the regulars here actually watch football rather than just tolerate it. Darts, pool, craft drafts, and no attitude. For the afternoon USA matches or any Premier League nation’s knockout run, this is where to be if you want a seat, a reasonable tab, and people who care about the game.

Best for: Mid-match relaxed viewing, European national team fans, smaller groups.

Cover: None.

Finnegan’s Pub

734 Willow Ave, Hoboken, NJ 07030  |  (201) 217-1512  |  www.finneganshoboken.com

Irish pub atmosphere with a football-serious crowd. Finnegan’s hosts the New Jersey Arsenal supporters group, which means real fans, multiple screens, and the kind of focus during a match that makes watching at home feel lonely by comparison. No cover, no reservations needed. Show up, find a spot, order a Guinness.

Best for: European matchups (England, Ireland, club-affiliated national sides), anyone who wants a football pub rather than a sports bar.

Cover: None.

Pier 13 Hoboken

1301 Sinatra Drive North, Hoboken, NJ 07030  |  (201) 798-8065  |  www.pier13hoboken.com

The outdoor option. Pier 13 sets up watch parties on the Hudson with a big screen, food trucks, and the Manhattan skyline behind you. For afternoon matches in June and early July the weather is on your side and the atmosphere is unlike anything you will find indoors. No cover, no reservations, and you can bring kids. Space is first-come — for a USA game, arrive an hour early.

Best for: Afternoon group stage matches, family-friendly viewing, anyone who wants beer and sunshine over the river.

Cover: Free.

Season: Open May through October only.

A lively group of soccer fans wearing team colors celebrate together at an outdoor bar and restaurant patio during sunset, watching a live match on a massive outdoor screen while holding drinks.

The energy at sports bars and restaurant patios across Hoboken and Jersey City will be electric all summer. With massive screens and extended outdoor seating, you'll want to reserve a table well before kickoff to secure the best view.

Jersey City: Where to Watch

Jersey City’s watch party scene is concentrated near Grove Street PATH, putting most of these venues two minutes from the train. For the full neighborhood picture, see our Things to Do in Jersey City guide, and for pre-game or post-match eating, Jersey City Eats has everything you need.

Legends FC

130 Newark Ave, Jersey City, NJ 07302  |  (201) 299-2300  |  legendsfcjc.com

Opened in November 2025, Legends FC is the most purpose-built football-watching venue in Jersey City. The lighting system, sound setup, and modern screen arrangement were designed for exactly this kind of moment. They are showing every match of the tournament. Located steps from Grove Street PATH — walkable from the train in under two minutes — which makes it the easiest venue in the whole guide to get to and from without a car.

For late-night kickoffs like Turkey vs USA at 10pm, this is the call. The club atmosphere hits differently after dark.

Best for: Evening and night matches, groups who want a modern setup and easy PATH access.

Cover: None confirmed; check their social media for ticketed events on USA games.

Lucky 7 Tavern

322 2nd St, Jersey City, NJ 07302  |  (201) 418-8585  |  lucky7tavern.com

Dive bar prices in a neighborhood that keeps raising them everywhere else. Lucky 7 fits about 60 people, has multiple screens, and runs NFL Sunday Ticket — which means the infrastructure for a big match is already there. No frills, no cover, and the kind of place where you can get a drink, watch the game, and not spend $80 doing it.

For lower-stakes group stage matches or if you just want to watch the second half of something on a Tuesday, this is the move.

Best for: Budget-conscious viewing, smaller groups, late-afternoon weekday matches.

Cover: None.

Zeppelin Hall Biergarten

88 Liberty View Dr, Jersey City, NJ 07302  |  (201) 721-8888  |  zeppelinhall.com

The European option. A covered outdoor biergarten in the Liberty Harbor neighborhood, Zeppelin Hall fits up to 125 in private sections and significantly more in the open space. It is not a sports bar by design, but for World Cup summer with an outdoor screen and German beer on draft, the atmosphere matches the moment. Best for afternoon matches when you want food, cold beer, and a crowd that is not screaming at the screen.

Best for: Germany, Netherlands, Austria fans. Casual afternoon watching. Groups who want space and outdoor seating.

Cover: None confirmed for standard matches.

Getting There: Transportation by Route

The venues above are all reachable by PATH without a car. For the full breakdown of how public transit connects Hudson County, see our PATH and Transit guide and Ferry Commute guide.

From Hoboken Terminal: The Hoboken venues (Madd Hatter, Black Bear, 8th Street Tavern, Finnegan’s) are a 5 to 10-minute walk up Washington Street. PATH 9th Street stop puts you at the door of the 8th Street Tavern in under a minute. For Jersey City venues, take PATH to Grove Street (5 minutes) for Legends FC and Lucky 7, or PATH to Exchange Place and Hudson-Bergen Light Rail to Liberty State Park for Zeppelin Hall (about 20 minutes total).

From Journal Square: PATH to Grove Street is 10 minutes and drops you two minutes from Legends FC. For Hoboken, PATH to Exchange Place (10 minutes) then transfer, or take the direct PATH to Hoboken Terminal (about 25 minutes).

From Midtown Manhattan: PATH from 33rd Street to Hoboken Terminal runs about 14 minutes. For Grove Street, PATH from 33rd Street via the Newark line is around 20 minutes.

Driving and Parking: On a USA game night, parking will be competitive on Washington Street. The garage network in Hoboken runs $10 to $20 for an evening. Jersey City’s Grove Street area has paid garages at $20 to $35. For a full breakdown, see our Monthly Parking Guide for Hoboken and Jersey City.

Getting to the Final at MetLife: NJ Transit from Hoboken Terminal via Secaucus Junction is the cleanest route. Plan for extra time on July 19 — every transit line will be at capacity by early afternoon. Verify NJ Transit’s event schedule at njtransit.com closer to the date.

Practical Tips Before You Go

•       Get there early. For any USA match, 60 minutes before kickoff is the safe arrival window at Madd Hatter, Black Bear, and Legends FC. For the quarterfinals and Final, plan for longer.

•       Reservations for groups. Madd Hatter offers group and corporate reservation packages, bookable through their website. If you are going with 8 or more people, book.

•       Check the screen schedule. Some venues will prioritize the USA match over a simultaneous game depending on their crowd. Call ahead and confirm what is going live on the main screen.

•       Bring ID. Every venue requires 21+ for alcohol. No exceptions.

•       Keep an eye on social. Legends FC and Pier 13 both post event updates and DJ additions to their social channels in the days before big matches. Follow before game day.

Living Here During World Cup Summer

If you have ever thought about what it would be like to live somewhere walkable enough to make game day part of the neighborhood fabric rather than a production, this summer is the version of that. A PATH ride from your front door to a bar stool in time for kickoff is the lived experience of Hudson County real estate.

For anyone considering making that permanent, our Hoboken community guide and Jersey City community guide cover what daily life actually looks like in both cities. When you are ready to talk about the real estate side, our team is here.
